Ask AI and MCP

Ask your store analytics in plain language

Ask AI answers questions about your store from your own ROASaurus reports. The same tools are available through an MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client can query your profit, attribution and LTV.

Answers from your data

Every number comes from a tool call on your reports, never from the model's memory.

Runs on Claude

Anthropic's model reads the results and answers in the language you write in.

24 read-only tools

Profit, attribution, view-throughs, ads, campaigns, customers, LTV, products, web, goals, inventory, benchmarks, costs, audiences, leads, alerts, anomalies, the action plan, dashboards, marketing mix, budgets and subscriptions.

MCP server

Use the same tools from Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client: sign in with your ROASaurus login, or send an API key in a header.

Keep the key safe

Use a named API key with only the mcp scope, or the store's API key, which can also send orders and events. Keep either as safe as a password.

Per store

One connection reads one store: the store you pick when you sign in, or the store of the API key.

How Ask AI works

Ask AI is a chat page in the dashboard. You ask a question, Claude picks the tools that can answer it, ROASaurus runs them against your store's data, and Claude writes the answer from the results. If a tool returns no data, it says so and suggests what to connect, such as the tracking script, ad accounts or product costs. History is kept per user and store, and each user has a daily question limit (40 by default, 5 on the Free plan). Ask AI can also propose a change to a campaign, ad set or ad for the Actions inbox; nothing changes until an owner or admin approves it.

Questions it can answer include "Which campaign had the best POAS in the last 30 days?", "How many months does a cohort take to pay back its CAC?" and "Are we on track for this month's revenue goal?"

Ask AI, and MCP clients whose key has the actions:write scope, also get ad_entities (the campaigns, ad sets and ads of write-enabled ad accounts) and propose_action, which adds a proposed change to the Actions inbox for an owner or admin to approve.

The MCP server

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, lets AI apps call tools on other services. ROASaurus runs an MCP server with the same 24 read-only tools, so you can ask about your store from Claude Code or another MCP client you already use.

Endpoint: POST https://app.roasaurus.com/mcp
Header: Authorization: Bearer <store key>:<API key>

It speaks MCP Streamable HTTP with JSON responses (no server-sent events) and supports initialize, ping, tools/list and tools/call. Every analytics tool is marked read-only. You can also send the store key in an X-Roasaurus-Key header and only the API key as the bearer token. Both keys are on the store's Settings › Orders API card. That API key is the same key the orders API uses, so it can also send orders and events: keep it as safe as a password. Regenerating it disconnects every client that used the old one. A named key with only the mcp scope, created under Store settings › API & data, works as the bearer token on its own and cannot write.

AI apps that support OAuth, such as Claude and ChatGPT, sign in instead of using a key: add the endpoint as a custom connector, log in to ROASaurus, pick a store and allow the connection. Owners and admins can connect, and Store settings › API & data lists every connection, where you can disconnect it.

Privacy

Ask AI sends your question and aggregated store metrics to Anthropic, which runs Claude. It sends no contact details of your customers. Through MCP, tool results go to the AI client you connect, under that client's terms.

Who it is for

Owners who want a number without building a report, and marketers or analysts who already work in Claude and want store data next to their other work. The answers are only as complete as the data behind them, so connect tracking, Meta and TikTok spend and your product costs first.

Limits

  • Periods are fixed: today, yesterday, or the last 7, 14, 30 or 90 days in the store's time zone.
  • The ads table uses a 7-day lookback window; attribution and campaign profit use the store's lookback or the one you ask for.
  • The tools cannot change anything themselves. Ask AI, and MCP clients whose key has the actions:write scope, can only propose ad changes for an owner or admin to approve.
  • One API key covers one store. For several stores, connect each one.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is an MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI apps call tools on other services. The ROASaurus MCP server gives an AI client read-only tools for one store's profit, attribution, ads, LTV, inventory, benchmarks and alerts.

Which AI apps can connect?

Claude Code and other MCP clients that can call a Streamable HTTP server with an Authorization header. ChatGPT expects OAuth sign-in for custom MCP servers, which ROASaurus does not offer yet. Use a named key with the mcp scope from Store settings › API & data, or your store key and API key from Settings › Orders API.

Can the AI change my campaigns or settings?

Not directly. Ask AI, and MCP clients whose key has the actions:write scope, can propose a change to a campaign, ad set or ad in the Actions inbox, and nothing changes until an owner or admin approves it. No tool can edit your store, your costs or your settings. The store's API key can also send orders and events, so keep it private.

Is customer data sent to the AI?

Ask AI sends your question and aggregated store metrics to Anthropic, which runs Claude, and no contact details of your customers. Through MCP, tool results go to whichever AI client you connect.
