Reddit Conversions API, sent from your server
ROASaurus sends Reddit's standard events and a custom checkout event to the Reddit Conversions API v3. The Reddit Pixel uses the same conversion ids, so Reddit keeps one copy.

What ROASaurus sends to Reddit
Page views, product views, adds to cart and purchases use Reddit's standard tracking types. Reddit has no standard event for starting a checkout, so ROASaurus sends it as a custom event named InitiateCheckout. The browser pixel uses the same custom name.
Each event carries the rdt_cid click id, Reddit's rdt_uuid value, the IP address, user agent and page URL. Known shoppers add a hashed email and a phone number in E.164 format, hashed. Before hashing, the email is lowercased and dots and "+" aliases are removed from the part before the @. The metadata holds the conversion id, order id, currency, value, item count and products.
The conversion id is the same event id the Reddit Pixel uses, which is how Reddit deduplicates. An event with no click id, email, phone, or IP address with user agent is skipped.
How to connect
- In Reddit Events Manager › Conversions API, generate an access token.
- In ROASaurus, go to Tracking & platforms, click Add pixel on the Reddit card and enter the Pixel ID (it looks like
t2_abc123) and the token. - Keep Also load the browser pixel on for deduplication.
- Optional: paste a Test ID from Event testing in Reddit Ads Manager while you check.
Limits
- Checkout starts arrive in Reddit as a custom conversion named InitiateCheckout, not a standard event. Pick that custom event if you optimize or report on checkouts.
- Reddit campaign spend syncs after you connect the ad account under Setup › Ad spend.
- Visits with rdt_cid are grouped under Reddit in attribution.

Questions, answered
Why is InitiateCheckout a custom event on Reddit?
Reddit's Conversions API has no standard checkout-start type. ROASaurus sends it as a custom event with the name InitiateCheckout from both the server and the browser pixel, so the two copies still match.
What does Reddit use to match a conversion?
The rdt_cid click id from the ad, the rdt_uuid value, a hashed email or phone, and the IP address with the user agent. ROASaurus sends whatever of these it has.
How do I test Reddit events?
Copy the Test ID from Event testing in Reddit Ads Manager into the pixel settings. Remove it once events look right.
